ETea...and no, I'm not talking Extra-terrestial

When I was asked if I would like to join the ETea team, I said, "Would I? Of course!" I love historical romance. There's something lyrical in period writing. Not only are historical time periods romantic (as long as you ignore the realities of poor hygiene and no indoor plumbing :) ), the language takes on a poetic lilt without being poetry. Whether it be the infused Scottish brogue of a Highlander or the proper phrasing of an English lord, the language draws us into a story and keeps us inthralled.

And not only the language...Gentlemen were chivalrous and women were ladies (except for those shrews who make for interesting secondary characters). The code of conduct for the historical periods lend themselves to great conflicts between men and women, and the costumes and decoration--well, just superb as a romantic backdrop.

So, what's your favourite time period? Regency? Elizabethan, Medieval, Middle Ages? As we celebrate TWRP's third year, what would you like to see us add to the ETea line-up?

LOL Nicke was very polite not to mention that when she was asked if she'd like to join English Tea Rose, I was holding on tight to her ankle, pleading "Please, please, join English Tea Rose!"

My favorite is Regency. However, I'm a big fan of all historicals.

I have to say I'm a Regency fan. Although, I will read Medievals once in a while.

I fear I'm a "cross-era" reader. So long as the author has a real sense of the period, the story and characters are compelling, I'm a happy reader!

My "capcha" word is "wookers". That could SOOO be a slang term for something in a historical! LOL

Hey Nicola! I enjoy regencies myself. Although, I never was a big historical fan until I joined a critique group with a wonderful historical author. I keep trying to get her to submit to TWRP. She's going to be at the Merritt Conference tomorrow and will meet Rhonda in person, so hopefully she'll be joining the ranks of us Roses soon.

Happy Birthday TWRP!!

Blessings, Teri

I will read any time period book. I do read a lot of historicals a little bit more, but I enjoying reading Regency and Medieval stories too.

What about those devilish rakes? Can those be found in the ETea line too?

I enjoy Regency the most. Medievals aren't too bad either.

Wow, the English Tea Rose line sounds so good! Mmm. Now I'm going to have to add to the list of "have to reads".

I started out reading mostly historicals years ago, since then I've branched out. But Medievals are especially fun to read. :)

I'm for Medievals, no wait Regency, so wait I like them all. A good story always grabs me, it's about the muse for me.

I started out in Regencies reading Georgette Heyer when I was ten. Now 30-odd (very odd) years later, I still love Regencies. My favourite Regency authors are Jane Austen and Mary Balogh. More important than the time period though, is the calibre of the story. That's what makes Jane A and Mary B superlative.

Medieval cravings can often be fulfilled over in Faery Rose, but be prepared for Celtic magic and dragons :-)

Are the ETea Rose editors open to unusual historical settings, then? Or just within England?

As a reader I prefer historicals but will read contemporaries too.

My predilection is for Regency set romances though. There are so many things about that period that fascinate me.

Happy Birthday Wild Rose Press!

I'm not much for regency or historical or medieval...but again, it all depends on the author and the storyline. If the story grabs me from the first page, I'm hooked, no matter the genre.

I am a fan of all historicals. I don't think I could pick just one.

I love all historicals, but a soft spot for Regency. Just can't get enough!

Oh gosh its hard to decide on one! I do love the Regency settings. And Medievals are a close second!

You got the balls, the dresses, the rakes, the handsome heroes...

The you got the castles, the big land of Scotland, the handsome heroes...

I love all historicals, but I love medievals (gotta love those knights) and Regencies. There's something about a chivalrous man that makes my heart go pitter patter. Not to mention, there are few things sexier than a man on horseback. After I've gotten a few more Regencies under my belt, I'll have to try my hand at writing a Medieval. Of course, that's means more research...

I like the western time. Love me some cowboys!

Laurean Brooks said...

Regency, The Wild West, anything from that time period. Historicals are my cup o' tea.

I'm right at home with a cowboy heroine or an English gentleman.
As long as he's not a sissy.

I prefer Medieval and the Middle Ages.

Hey Kelly,

We're open to any non-American setting. Doesn't have to be England; although England and Scotland are the most popular--Oh, and Ireland, so I guess all of Great Britain. But we're open to other locales.
